Veterans Trek the Camino For Veterans Charity

Posted On August 9, 2021 at 12:36 pm by / 1 Comment

On the 3rd September 2021, Tony Murray and Jimmy Fulham will undertake an 800km trek on the Camino de Santiago, a walk across northern Spain. Tony and Jimmy are embarking on the trek for homeless veterans in Ireland and to support the work of Óglaigh Náisiúnta na hÉireann / Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel (ONE).

Donate and support this very worthy cause here: https://bit.ly/ONE_Camino

The walk normally takes 33 days. The Camino is a pilgrimage from St Jean Pied de Port in southern France, to Santiago in northern Spain and has been walked by thousands of “Pilgrims” for the last thousand years.

Tony Murray is a veteran of 27 years’ service. He joined the Irish Defence Forces in December 1975 and was trained in the 5th Infantry Battalion where he stayed for 3 years before moving over to Command Headquarters. In 1988 he returned back to the 5th Infantry Battalion where he positively shaped the careers of many soldiers and officers.

Jimmy Fulham joined the Defence Forces in 1975 and served for 6 years in the 12th Infantry Battalion and 5th Infantry Battalion. Jimmy is really looking forward to the challenge and is immensely proud to take on the pilgrimage for ONE.

ONE provides Support, Comradeship, Advocacy and Remembrance (SCAR) for Irish Veterans. ONE is a company limited by guarantee (328824) and a charity registered with both the Charities Regulatory Authority (RCN: 20044268) and the Revenue Commissioners (CHY 13868). www.ONE-Veterans.org
ONE’s services are available to all veterans of the Irish Defence Forces and we also facilitate homeless veterans from other countries living in Ireland from time to time.  ONE provides accommodation to veterans, who otherwise would be homeless, and has also created a nationwide network of Veteran’s Support Centres which provide a variety of support services and access to resources.
