ONE as the provider of Support, Comradeship, Advocacy and Remembrance (SCAR) for Irish Veterans is an organisation that provides critical services & supports, and one that has gone from strength to strength in recent years. To further build on and progress the overall goals and objectives of the organisation, increasing the membership and the participation of women and younger veterans in the organisation is key to rounding out the invaluable services offered by ONE. Greater understanding of the specific needs of all veterans, women and men, young and old, will ensure that the organisation continues to grow and provide essential services and support to those who have proudly served their country.

Through our new campaign ‘I Am A Veteran’, the Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel is highlighting our talented, highly skilled and diverse group of veterans, showcasing members who are making a difference in our communities and across Irish and international society.

To highlight the strength we derive from diversity, ONE acknowledge the dedicated, skilled team who made our video series and new campaign a reality. Thank you to the Chief of Staff, Vice Admiral Mark Mellett for his support to veteran affairs; Karl McEneaney, Keith Harrison and Paul Keeley from the Defence Forces Audio Visual Section for their professionalism, technical skills and patience  – story boarding, directing and editing each video; the Irish Defence Forces Press Office; the CEO and Chairperson of ONE for their leadership and commitment to making ONE a more inclusive organisation and finally, to all our veterans who participated (and will soon participate) in the campaign.

Filming will continue in Q2 and Q3 2021 (subject to COVID restrictions) but ONE are releasing the first 5 videos of the series ‘I Am A Veteran’ over the coming weeks.

Our first veteran’s story features Amy O’Connor, Career & Life Coach, Military Transitions Coach. Amy talks us through what being a veteran means to her and how she has transitioned her military skills and experience over to civilian life.

Amy is an incredible role model and demonstrates how veterans continue to strengthen the nation even after they retire their uniform.
