Private William O’Brien was killed in Lebanon on 06 December 1986 while serving with the 60^th Infantry Battalion in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). His parent unit in Ireland was the 6^th Infantry Battalion Athlone. William’s funeral took place thirty-four years ago today on the 10^th of December 1986 and he was buried with full military honours.
